Customer Solutions Specialist – Integrated Subsurface Workflows

Location: Open to Discussion
Reports To: Client Services Lead

The Role

Sound QI is looking for a Customer Solutions Specialist to support and grow adoption of Maestro, our subsurface data integration software, across a client base of seismic interpreters and integrated asset teams. This is a technical, relationship-driven role: you'll teach users the mechanics of the software, but more importantly, you'll coach them on how to build a logically sound, hierarchical attribute-analysis workflow to reduce subsurface risk on real exploration and development decisions. You'll be the bridge between what the software can do and what a given play, dataset, and client objective actually needs.

What You'll Do:

  • Train new and existing users on Maestro's features and on the underlying logic of building attribute-based investigation workflows
  • Build lasting trust with technical users — geoscientists who will push back, ask hard questions, and want to see the reasoning, not just the button-clicks
  • Listen closely to a client's geological objective (play type, target, key risks) and help translate that into a workflow structure in Maestro
  • Build and deliver training materials, videos, and user group sessions
  • Support software releases, testing, and technical implementation at client sites
  • Troubleshoot technical issues by investigating multiple possible root causes — software behavior, data inputs, workflow logic, or interpretation approach — and distinguish between a bug, a workaround, and a training gap
  • Document bugs, workarounds, and feature requests clearly for the internal product team
  • Identify and propose workflow improvements, both to clients directly and back into internal product development
  • Act as an active partner to the Sound QI software development team — bringing user feedback, real-world usage patterns, and field experience to the table to help prioritize development of new technical functionality and UI improvements
  • Grow usage and seat adoption within client organizations by demonstrating tangible workflow value

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in geoscience, geophysics, or a related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of geology, oil & gas subsurface exploration and development objectives, and seismic interpretation and quantitative interpretation (QI) concepts — attributes, rock/fluid/geometric prediction, calibration to well data
  • A logical, structured approach to problem-solving, paired with the creativity to try a different analytical angle when the first one doesn't hold up
  • Strong listening and communication skills — able to translate a geoscientist's problem or goal into a concrete plan
  • Patience and comfort supporting users with a range of technical fluency, from software novices to seasoned interpreters
  • Prior software support/customer success experience is a plus, but not required

What Sets The Ideal Candidate Apart:

  • Has personally built or QC'd subsurface prediction workflows (not just used software passively) and understands why a workflow is structured a certain way, not just how to click through it
  • Comfortable saying “I don't know, let's find out” and then actually investigating — rather than guessing to close a ticket
  • Genuinely energized by other people's “aha” moments and successes rather than just their own analysis
  • Takes real pride and excitement in Maestro — the kind of enthusiasm that's contagious to users and prospective clients alike
  • A likeable, respectful personality that puts clients at ease and makes them want to engage
  • Communicates accurately and with the right level of detail and timing — and follows up and follows through diligently, since clients are busy and juggling competing priorities. Clears blockers that stall momentum, then keeps in regular contact to keep that momentum going
